Community Events in July & August

posted Jul 11, 2020, 5:15 AM by Thamesview UC Fullarton   [ updated Jul 11, 2020, 5:23 AM ]

Carolyn Clark and family invite all to this memorial event: Please note all precautions are in place with COVID-19 Restrictions

Join the walkathon and raise money for Camp Bimini!  Pledge forms are available (attached)--simply collect your pledges and walk!  Why 8 km?  it's 20 laps of the playing field at Bimini and it's approximately 8 km to Stratford and St. Pauls!  AND, you get to do it wherever you find yourself that day (or weekend).  If you would like to participate, AWESOME! Tell us that you are participating! If you can't, please find a way to support this great fundraiser by either sponsoring someone else (you can always sponsor me!) and/or sharing this fundraiser among friends and family. It would be amazing if everyone had a minimum goal of $100! Cash, cheque, etransfers accepted. If your sponsors would like to donate on a credit card, please contact the camp and we can arrange this. Let's walk the walk! Make sure you wear Bimini gear to show off that day and take pics and post on social media! Challenge others to raise more than you!

Our online camp experience began June 21 and is going well!  Among many things, we've explored some of the plants and trees of Bimini, made sidewalk paint, energy balls and ran and screamed at the same time!    We know the kids are enjoying it too!  If you would still like to register, there is room for more!

Join us Sunday nights after 7 pm for Vespers and Wednesday nights after 7 pm for Campfire...lead by Bimini staff--past and present!  You may also find there some camp graces!  Check out our You Tube channel.

In case you missed it on Facebook, an alumnus has challenged all alumni!

"I have recently become aware that Camp Bimini (not surprisingly) is not holding camps this summer. I remember my week at camp each summer as the highlight of the summer – also was there as a counsellor in my high school years. I feel very sorry for all the disappointed children this summer. Special memories – delicious food, games, crafts, SWIMMING POOL, campfires ( the famous Lion Hunt), vespers and new friends, receiving mail, as many other memories. Unfortunately many of the camp’s expenses are ongoing and the camp will be running a big deficit of $80,000 that will need to be carried into 2021. It sounds like a lot but if 80 people gave $1,000. each it would be paid. I have sent my cheque – now I challenge other Bimini alumni to also contribute financially and also to express what Bimini meant to you."       Janice Davey

To make a donation, email treasurer@campbimini.ca to arrange an e-transfer, or make a donation on line at www.canadahelps.org/en/charities/camp-bimini/ or send a cheque to 3180 Perth Rd. 113 RR#1 St. Pauls, ON N0K 1V0

Thanks for always believing in this place that values children and youth and their time spent in nature to create, discover, ask, play, grow and be.

Car Rally Photo Scavenger Hunt

posted Jul 4, 2020, 9:20 AM by Thamesview UC Fullarton   [ updated Jul 4, 2020, 10:04 AM ]

The Car rally photo scavenger hunt starts at 1:00 pm in the Thamesview parking lot on July 19th.  The hunt part of the day will be 3 hours and we are hoping for some type of social distancing refreshments. Teams will consist of 6 people maximum and they can be in more than one vehicle (for example motorcycles) but must stay together during the hunt.  All hunt places and items will be gathered using photos on a cell phone or digital camera.  Proper social distancing will be used and teams are to be made of members of your social bubble.

The scavenger hunt list is made up of places and objects that are named on the list or must be deduced from a description, picture, or riddle. Points will be given for each item or place and the team with the highest score after the 3 hours have expired will win.

A great conversation starter and way to promote our church!

   sizes S-5X

- ladies' with v-neck, shorter sleeves and more fitted

Please note that these shirts fit smaller, so we suggest that you order one size larger than you would normally order.

There are no YOUTH sizes, but the adult S fit fairly small. This is the sizing chart from the company making the shirts:

Some members of our church have tried on samples and fit the following size: maybe this will help you when making your size selection:

Donna Melanson: uni XL                  Kevin Melanson:  uni XL

Bev Walkom:  ladies' L                     Mary McIntosh:  ladies' XL

Thamesview’s  on-line Silent Auction has been going so well that we’ve decided to keep it going for a while longer!

So we are looking for new and exciting (or delicious!) items to auction!

A cake, a pie, some bread, ..a piece of art, a wood-worked item, an afternoon of gardening, detailing a car....

If you have something you can donate, please contact Bob Hutson right away!

Important Message June 11 2020

posted Jun 14, 2020, 5:30 AM by Thamesview UC Fullarton

After the announcement that limited church worship would be allowed, some questions have come in for what that means for Thamesview.

We have decided to continue to be cautious, and diligent, and not rush into gathering together in our church building until the fall.  We are hoping to plan some outdoor Sunday evening services this summer, and more information will be shared as we are able to get the logistics in place, but we will also be continuing to have services available through YouTube or our website.

Thank you for your continued support.

Week 9 : Thamesview E-Mail Silent Auction!

Tuesday July 7 - Sunday July 12 at 7 pm

Last weeks’ winners were:  Kevin Melanson - hockey cards and Barb Norris - bits & bites.

We have 2 more items available for you!  And it’s very easy to bid.

Email Kevin at kmelanson@precisecastings.ca  (Please do not reply/send email to the church)

In the ‘subject’ line of the email, just type in the item you’re bidding on...ie: Pillow or Tarts

The email should only contain two items — your name, and your bid amount.  That’s all!

And ONLY one bid per person, please.

Bids will be received from the time this announcement is sent out, until 7:00 pm Sunday night of that weekend.  The winner will be notified that night, and the item delivered ASAP.  The winners’ names will be included in the next weeks’ auction announcement, along with the next items up for bid.

And here are our next two items!  Bids accepted until Sunday July 12 7:00 pm

Item #1: A pillow to take anywhere ...it holds your book, and is a comfy pillow to snuggle into while reading. Creatively made and donated by Patricia Willows

Item #2: Two dozen butter tarts from Lorraine Babbs’ kitchen, and her butter tarts are ooey-gooey delicious!
